Yes. The choice of where you receive therapy is always yours. While the majority of our patients come to us by physician referral/recommendation, many clients request to see us due to our strong clinical reputation in the community.
We operate in a direct access state where, if your insurance plan authorizes self-referral to physical therapy, a physician referral is not necessary for you to be seen by a licensed therapist. Please check with your insurance though as many health insurance plans require a physicians referral for therapy to be covered. We also offer treatments, services and/or products that do NOT require a referral and are available on a self-pay basis.
We participate in the majority of major health insurance plans including Medicare and Worker’s Compensation. Please contact us prior to your first visit to see if we participate with your specific health plan.

“I found them a great bunch; very kind a courteous. Craig Riley knows his trade; I think his assessment and treatment for the issue I had have really helped me, and almost more importantly, have given me tools to prevent Craig’s favorite word, “recurrence.” Great guy, very knowledgeable and with great attention to the patient.” – Philip J.
“I have dealt with back issues for many years. When I was in last January with pain shooting down my hip and leg, I was sent over for an injection and lined up for PT with Craig Riley at ProActive. I have been doing PT for 7 months now and just finished. I can’t tell you how happy I am to be nearly pain free! I have learned what bends and stretches to do at home should symptoms start again, posture to strive for, and bending to avoid when I get back to teaching. Craig and ProActive have been wonderful! Recommend to anyone!” – Ruth E.
“I would definitely recommend Craig Riley and the McKenzie Method for patients with back pain. Craig and his staff were professional and offered lots of encouragement while treating me. I especially liked the individual care I received. Craig, or one of his staff members were always right beside me making sure I was going my therapy the right way. Craig is an excellent therapist and I had a good experience at ProActive.” – Mary C.
“When I first came to ProActive I was in much pain shooting down legs, back pain, numbness in feet and hands. Now with Craig’s knowledge and patience I have learned more about my body and what to do and not do. Posture is a huge piece of this. He taught me a program to take home to be proactive and know the signs and symptoms and follow my program. My pain is minimal and on certain activities but I know now how to be proactive. I would highly recommend Craig and his team. They have become like family. I would come back if ever needed in a heart beat.” – Vanessa S.
“For three months I endured very acute pain in my right jaw that caused difficulty chewing and opening my mouth. Pain pills, massage and chiropractic care gave me only temporary relief. After six weeks of physical therapy with Craig, the pain has subsided. I appreciate the simple home exercises he taught me for precaution of this pain reoccurring.” – Brenda B.
“Therapy was gradual and has ended with a new greater range of motion and less pain. Clear explanations of how and what to do encouraged me to continue exercises as a preventative measure.” – Michael C.
“My experience at ProActive was an extremely positive one. I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the staff and I feel that they were genuinely invested in my recovery. My symptoms are greatly reduced from when I first began treatment and I would highly recommend ProActive to anyone in need of similar care.” – Shane E.
“I was extremely pleased with ProActive PT and Craig Riley as my physical therapist for my shoulder pain. I had tried other PT facilities in past years for my shoulder and did not have successful results. The approach used by ProActive is understandable, easy to incorporate at home and work. I am pain free in my shoulder for the first time in over ten years! I would highly recommend Craig Riley and his staff to anyone.” – Lynne M.
“Therapy was great! I have not been able to throw a baseball in years. I can now play catch with my kids. The staff was excellent. The progression of strength building and flexibility was perfect, thanks” – Mike U.
“I have been very pleased with the way my shoulder has turned out. Starting from extreme pain/stiffness after surgery, I now have full range of motion and feel almost no restriction in movement. The strength in it is almost equal to the other one at this time. Craig is an excellent therapist, does well with explanations too. Flexible scheduling and extremely helpful staff.” – Sue F.
“My experience with Craig and his staff was very positive. While the progress was slow, I am now pain free and able to do all of the activities I enjoy doing. I have had tennis elbow for a period of four years and have been receiving injections for the pain. After attending physical therapy, I now have the tools to continue strengthening my elbow and to keep it healthy. I am very pleased with my outcome and will return to ProActive physical therapy for any needs in the future.” – Kristin J.

“When I started therapy it hurt to walk on crutches and I couldn’t sleep very well due to pain. Soon after I could sleep well and lost the crutches. I am now back to full work days, but have some instability and weakness. The program has helped greatly and Craig was easy to work with. I hope over time I will keep improving.” – Dean H.
“I thought my knee therapy experience went real well. I arrived with an LCL sprain and possibly a small tear in my left knee. I met with Craig and his staff. They prepared a well thought out dynamic strength program to meet my needs and goals. The program consisted of stretching, exercises, and using machines. After 2-3 weeks, my LCL sprain had returned back to 100%. They other part returned to 90-95%. Hopefully with the home exercise program it will get to 100%. But I met my goal of not having to have an MRI or knee surgery. ProActive PT is a clean, state of the art facility. The staff is outstanding; they are friendly, flexible and helpful. I would definitely use their resources again. I would recommend ProActive to others. – Andrew F.
After twisting, then collapsing and finally hearing my knee pop, I started PT exercises with Craig Riley and his assistants. Gradually my knee improved and the whole leg became stronger and now I am back to normal (even better) and thank the staff here for helping me so much. My whole experience here at ProActive has been just great.” – Shirley M.
“I received good information and care while at ProActive. Craig helped me reach all the goals that I need and set for myself and exceeded my expectations. The therapy also helped me bypass more invasive treatment for my knees. I even looked forward to our therapy sessions.” – Parris G.
“I feel therapy was very helpful and I made good progress. I wish I had started weeks before as I feel I would have had better results. Craig is an excellent therapist who strives to do all he can to help get patients back to 100%. He was very helpful with my concerns and worked hard to help me feel I was ready to continue at home therapy and return to work full time.” – Kris S.
“I did not realize how much a hamstring injury could affect everything you do throughout your day. Working with Craig, Bret and Eric helped me understand the injury and just what I needed to do to heal, stretch and strengthen my muscle. It was a very rewarding experience and I certainly feel that I now have the knowledge to take better care of my hamstring which will help me avoid further injury. I would recommend this group to everyone!” – Darla S.
